This Saturday, January 20, 2018, the Battle at the Barclays in New York will be between the new and undefeated IBF Welterweight champion Errol Spence, Jr. (22-0, 19 KO's) from DeSoto, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, Texas against former world champion Lamont Peterson (35-3, 17 KO's).
After stepping onto the scales, Spence weighed in at the welterweight limit of 147 pounds and Lamont Peterson tipped the scales at 146 3/4 pounds.
The fight will be shown on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING at 6 p.m. Pacific Time and 9 p.m. Eastern time. The main event will feature the young and talented champion Spence, who will be defending his title for the first time on his homeland. Prior to that, he went to England and took the title from the English welterweight champion, Kell Brook (36-2, 25 KO's).
The southpaw Spence, unlike the overrated former welterweight champion who finished his career with an insult to boxing, said "This is a tough challenge, and if you know Lamont, you know he's a tough fight but I came to dominate the division and it started with Kell Brook. I'm going to get Lamont Peterson and then I'm going to get the other welterweights that are out there.
