The reach of Maurice "Mighty Mo" Hooker kept Terry "Turbo" Flanagan at a distance throughout this junior welterweight championship fight, which ultimately made the difference tonight in Manchester England.
Although Flanagan kept the pressure up the entire fight, "Mighty Mo" was able to add the points up with punches with both hands to ultimately win the fight.
It was clear that it was going to be a close fight, and a point or two probably should have been taken away from Flanagan for roughhousing in the ring, especially when he literally shoved "Mighty Mo" to the canvas as he was against the ropes.
Despite that and other tactics by Flanagan, it didn't matter to “Mighty Mo” from Dallas, Texas. Even when Flanagan tried to muscle his way in and use his head it eventually backfired on him. It was in the seventh round that heads clashed again, and Flanagan got the worst end of it with a huge cut in the middle of his forehead.
In the last two rounds, both fighters left it all the ring, and after the split decision winner was announced “Mighty Mo” fell to his knees, overwhelmed by the win.
"Mighty Mo" said the before the fight that it didn't matter that he had to go to England to fight for a world title, and that is what real champions do, they fight anywhere against anyone for that world title.
